Leaving the station, we first pass by old station buildings and equipment.

Switchback: We will pull past the fork in the tracks, and then switch to the upper set.
The conductor hops off the train to flip the switch.
Now the engine is pulling the train.
Rounding a bend, we move into the clearing at the Whittaker logging camp.
The view is pretty spectacular.
At altitude, it's colder than ever. On the plus side, the foliage color is the best we'll see on the trip.

The ride back down was pretty much the same thing, in reverse. Once back at the bottom, it was time to head to Romney.
