Our first destination in the Kennett Square vicinity was Longwood Gardens, formerly an estate of Pierre S. DuPont. It is now over 1000 acres of gardens, meadow, forest, and conservatory.
DuPont was particularly fond of fountains, so there are a number of them in the Gardens. This set runs a show every 20 minutes or so, accompanied by a Sousa march. As you might expect, the music and the fountains both build to a great climax, then shut off, leaving just a misty rainbow.
