Maryland Crabs

We had dinner at Gunning's Seafood, a place that is well known in the region for crabs. Throwing caution to the wind, we ordered some kind of crab feast. They brought us wooden hammers and a platter of whole crabs. We attacked them with the kind of clueless gusto that is more common in those younger than 5.

Fortunately, a local came to our rescue and showed us how to disassemble a crab properly. And not to eat the gills.

Besides crabs, a signature dish of the house is fried pepper rings. Like onion rings, only with green peppers. And they serve them sprinkled with powdered sugar. And the ambient lighting is red. Why doesn't every city have a place like this?

The entrance is guarded by a lion, which is your assurance of quality and expense. We spent more here than at any other restaurant.
