Other sights to see in the Historic District include Betsy Ross House and the cemetery where Benjamin Franklin is buried. We toured Betsy Ross House, which is a very narrow three-story house. She rented it, and probably shared space in it.
Betsy was unusual in that she ran her own business. It was never common knowledge in her lifetime that she collaborated with George Washington to create the first American flag.
Afterward we wanted to see Ben Franklin's grave, but by that time the cemetery was closed, and it turns out that streets were being blocked off for the presentation of the Liberty Medal to former Presidents Bush and Clinton for their efforts in building support for tsunami and hurricane relief.
We could see the event from the Visitors Center.
It was also too late to ride the ducks. So it was time to sample the one other thing that Philadelphia has to offer: a cheese steak.
This poster in the Visitors Center had the Franklin quote Roy liked best.
