Now it's time to get busy. Inside the familiar caterpillar skin is a weird-looking pupa, still soft and wiggly. It starts working the caterpillar skin upward, essentially trying to crawl downward, out of the old skin, which splits near the head.
The old skin bunches up near the end of the caterpillar as the fat pupa body
breaks out.
This whole stage takes only about five minutes.
